Macawber Beekay introduces Green Coal – derived from MSW (Municipal Solid Waste). A capacity of upto 600T per day of waste conversion to Coal which is carbon neutral and eco-friendly!
Bio/Green Coal offers some distinct & promising advantages for our environment:
- Bio-coal is carbon-neutral as it is derived from Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) without any mining of fossil fuels.
- Using 1 kg of bio-coal/ green coal as solid fuel, by replacing fossil coal brings a reduction of approx. 2 kg CO2 produced per kg of fossil coal
- Production of Bio-coal does not require any additional fuel for heating as it uses volatile gases of MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) process.
- Additionally, this bio/green coal being produced from Municipal Waste, has an even larger contribution to the global emission reductions, as it avoids landfilling emissions and associated challenges of managing the landfill or the pile up area.
- Addresses issues of landfills and helps in land reclamation by making use of legacy waste.
- Production of green coal addresses the issue of water contamination due to landfill & Leachate discharge from the landfill area.
- By using 1 ton of Bio-coal, one can avoid burning of 1 ton fossil fuels thus saves 6 trees.
- The ash content is lower than most of traditional coal.
- Bio-coal / green coal can offer a sustainable and fossil-free alternative for industries such as metallurgy, where using raw biomass as a reducing agent in blast furnace would normally not be possible because of the biomass high moisture content, low fixed carbon and high contents of ash.
- Bio-coal an economic alternative to traditional coal as its cost of prodcution is economically viable.
